Travis has been playing guitar professionally since he was a teenager.  He graduated from San Diego State University with his B.M. in Jazz Studies May, 2008 Summa Cum Laude and was voted Outstanding Student by faculty members of the music department. He received an Associates Degree (2004, with Honors) in Classical Guitar Performance from Grossmont College where he was fortunate enough to study with Fred Benedetti.  He has begun work on his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at San Diego State University and is currently studying with Richard Thompson and Rick Helzer.  Equally interested in composition as in performance, Travis has written for string quartet and many solo classical instruments in addition to composing jazz tunes.  He has a truly wide range of influences ranging from Bach, Beethoven, Shostakovich and Philip Glass to Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus and Wayne Shorter to the Beatles, Paul Simon, the Grateful Dead, James Brown, Parliament/Funkadelic and Frank Zappa.
